When your car is in poor health, let it give someone else a chance to live a healthy life! Recycle for Gold is the Massachusetts car donation program of Special Olympics Massachusetts. We turn unhealthy cars and trucks into healthy athletes! We accept car donations and truck donations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and then resell or recycle them into the funds necessary to support year-round sports training and competition.

Donating A Car Step-By-Step
  1. Complete the online form.
  2. You will receive a notice from Millis Industries including the number of the retrieval company in your area. 
  3. Calls the retrieval company to schedule a convenient pick-up. You don't even have to be there when the car is picked up.
  4. The vehicle is picked up; and you are given a tax receipt for your records.
  5. In some cases, you receive tax documents stating the actual gross sale price of the vehicle. 
 

Donating A Car to Charity: Tax Information

Upon pick-up of the vehicle, you receive a receipt that may be used to claim up to $500 as a charitable deduction on that year’s taxes.  If your vehicle sells for over $500, you will be notified within 30 days of the sale.  In that case, you will receive appropriate tax documents in the mail containing the actual gross sale price of the vehicle, the amount you will be able to claim as a charitable deduction.  (In some instances, this process may take up to 3 months from the date of pick-up.)  The donor will not receive an additional receipt unless the vehicle sells for over $500.
